Fall Youth League Basketball (Grades 1 - Grades 4)

Introductory program for young athletes to develop fundamental basketball skills and develop a love for the game. Our upcoming 6-week fall session will be held at Englehart High School and is open to children from Grade 1 to Grade 4. To see sessions open for Grade 1 to Grade 4 view here. Sessions will be conducted every Tuesday evening from 5:45 pm to 6:45 pm, commencing on October 3rd and concluding on November 7th. Please be aware that there will be no session scheduled for Tuesday, October 31, which coincides with Halloween. However, we will make up for it on November 14th.

Welcome to the Temiskaming Thunder Youth League Basketball program, which is carefully designed to cater to players of all skill levels, from beginners taking their first steps on the court to young athletes looking to hone their talents further. At Temiskaming Thunder, we believe in instilling a passion for the game, emphasizing skill development, teamwork, and a positive attitude.  Led by our dedicated and experienced coaches, our youth league offers a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment for every participant. We understand that this is a crucial age for young players, and we aim to make their basketball experience enjoyable and fulfilling. 

Our coaches are not just focused on teaching basketball skills; they also emphasize the values of sportsmanship, respect, and teamwork, setting a strong foundation for the personal growth of each child.  The program is structured to focus on skill development but we will also be playing games. Allowing players to work on their individual skills, from dribbling and shooting to passing and defense, while also learning valuable team concepts. Our fun and engaging games offer the perfect platform for players to showcase their progress, boost their confidence, and develop healthy competition.  

As part of our commitment to providing the best basketball experience, we are excited to announce that we will be including Jr. NBA programming in our youth league. This addition allows young athletes to benefit from the resources and development curriculum provided by the NBA, inspiring them to dream big and aim high in their basketball aspirations.

Future Youth League Programming

We will be hosting Youth League Programming twice a year; once in the fall at EHS and again in the spring at TDSS. These 6-week programs run 1 night per week and are open for girls and boys in Grades 1 - Grade 8.

Note the session falls on Halloween Tuesday, October 31 we will not be hosting a session.
